Very entertaining for summer - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

In the wake of disappointing films, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is a sigh of relief. Anybody with low expectations will be alleviated. The film is rated PG-13 due to the film's violence and spookiness, but never wanders outside the borders of inappropriateness. If you are looking for a fun-filled night with the family and you have already viewed Finding Nemo, I suggest your next stop be Pirates of the Caribbean.

Critics must admit they were wrong - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

I don't think this movie was great simply because it surpassed my expectations, but because it really had great acting, an excellent story (this is despite the fact that it is based on a Disneyland ride, but even so, it's a nice change of pace from Universal's lackluster attempts at drawing visitors by creating the latest extravaganza based on their regular summer flop), and stunning visuals. I'm planning on seeing it again...this time with the one that I love :)

Wonderful story to tell - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean Last night with my nephew and niece before the crowds and I really enjoyed the beginning to the end, I love the movies but this one really had me stuck to my seat good for Disney to go out for the adult viewers with kids inside them. Hope to see more Action movies like this one. Everyone in the AMC theatre (full Theatre) clapped and few of us got out of our seats. GREAT JOB TO THE WHOLE CAST!!!!!!!!!! There costumes and screen scenes are great and overall not just another silly movie. I'm going to see it again. Definetaly a Award Winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arr the best ship on the seven seas! - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

How many ways can you spell, Wow? There is bountiful booty to found in this keeper! Cap'n Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) be Pyrate King in me logue books. A wonderful film, fabulous locations, GREAT SHIPS, and lots of swashbuckling action. It doesn't smell of Disney at all! It's worth the DVD Director's cut, It's worth watching a hundred times over and dare I say the sequels will no doubt be better? How can it get better? I think that now that Orlando Bloom is "seasoned" having done a great role in KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, he might actually pull off some amazing stunts in the sequel. In this first one, he is just getting his feet wet. I could actually see an improvement in his acting during his starring role in KOH and have no doubts that he will be Cap'n Jack Sparrow's trusty side kick in the next two Pirate of the Caribbean sequels. If you haven't seen this flick yet, then what are you waiting for? Beware of that monkey, matie.. ye either love him or hate 'im, but is definitely a boon for this story.

What the hell are those critics thinking? - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

This is a must see! - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

Admittedly, when I first heard about this movie, I only wanted to see it for the men in it. As soon as the first 5 minutes of the movie began, I was already hooked. The whole 2 hours and 41 minutes flew by like 10 seconds. I was actually sad when the movie had to come to and end. I highly recommend this movie to everyone! It's a must see!

A pirate's life for me - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

"Pirate's of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" plays out like the classic Disney World ride. You can almost smell the salt of the sea. The swashbuckling pirate genre is severely underused in film these days. The story is rather inventive, yet at times slight hackneyed. Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, or as he would prefer Captain Jack Sparrow, swaggers around the beautiful Carribean setting further proving his acting capabilities. The film has the action and adventure of "Cutthroat Island" and the heart and lighthearted motif that grounded "Hook". All in all, "Pirates of the Carribean" is an entertaining, fun time at the movies.

In his hands - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

Johnny Depp. And thats it, thats almost all that needs to be said! Let me explain- The movie revolved souly in his palm and he made it magical. With his quirky smile and lazy attitude he made the audience want more. I found this to be a wonderful and humurous adventure, with amazing visuals and a clever script. This is a movie you'll be sorry you missed! An amazing A+ movie, to the critics-don't take your bad day out on a great movie!

More fun than a bottle of rum! - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Reviews

Well Disney has definitely gotten their magic back! They started with the ride at their theme parks which I absolutely love. The ride can take you, if only for a few minutes into the cavalier world of a sea plunderer. But add a little Disney Magic and poof, you have not only a great spinoff, but also an incredibly entertaining and witty pirate movie. Now that takes magic! They left out none of the ingredients to make this an authentic pirate movie. From the bottles of rum, booty, and a boatful of pirates missing all types of body parts this movie brings out everything about pirates that we love so much. They definitely add a whole lot more than the cliche pirate elements though. As a genuine pirate flick that doesn?t take itself too seriously, it generates the same type of appeal that the actual ride does. Its not too dark or serious, just a lot of fun. Probably the most delightful aspect of this movie was the acting which kind of makes up for the thinning plot that drags on near the end. Capt. Jack Sparrow is quite a con man and swindler of a pirate that bounces around from situation to situation getting through only by luck most of the time, but from the very first time you see him, you cant help but love his character. He still has the rogue, maverick air that any good pirate should have. Sparrow played by Depp makes the coolest and most engaging pirate ever. Seriously, once you see the movie, you will know what a delight Johnny Depp?s character is to watch. The love story between Orlando Bloom as an unexperienced and idealistic sword maker and Keira Knightley as the damsel in distress help to lay the plot, but do not drown out the story with mushy stuff. The story pretty much works this way: girl (Knightley) who has known boy(Bloom) since childhood gets kindnapped by pirates who are plagued by an ancient curse. Knightley?s character gets rescued by Bloom with a lot of help from Capt. Sparrow (Depp). Adventures ensue. This movie will definitely provide great entertainment for a variety of audiences. Young and old will enjoy if you are in the mood to see a movie that is mostly for entertainment, not a movie that will deeply touch your soul. The violence and some sexual situations are probably not suitable for younger viewers. The movie actually copies the ride in several scenes. Most recognizably is pirates in the brig waving a bone at the dog with keys in mouth. The writers definitely had fun with that. If you are the type of person that loved the ride, then you will most definitely be a fan of the movie. I absolutely loved it, and will probably buy it when it comes out on DVD.
